Today was the First Day during this trip that I encountered a moose on the road.
Also, today was the First time that I used my “dog horn” to alert a wild animal to my presence. (Perhaps I should call it a “moose horn?”)
I was going to try to get a photo of the large beast, but, as usual, two vehicles passed me just before I stopped to get my camera.
The moose, who had been standing fixated in the middle of the road contemplating my scooter and other unfamiliar features, apparently decided that two cars and the strange looking contraption approaching him were too much. He bounded off towards the hill around the corner.
The cars sped off. I proceeded slowly sounding my horn just in case the curious creature might be lingering near to the road.
He was.
As I rounded the corner the moose appeared again very near the shoulder awaiting my arrival.
But another few beeps on the horn and s/he trotted off up the hill.
I’m glad the horn works.
I added it to scare away unfriendly dogs that might be tempted to chase me, especially in Mexico.
I mounted it in such a way that I can quickly push the button without looking and without releasing my grip from the handlebar, something that I can’t do with the factory scooter horn located on the left side of the handlebar.
It seems to work, at least for curious moose (mice?).
I hope I don’t get the opportunity to test it on vengeful canines.
I decided to stay in Nakusp tonight and tomorrow night for two reasons.
The first reason is because I didn’t want to get soaking wet AGAIN today. (It was really raining hard when I got into town. I waited the downpour out at the first convenience store I found. It’s supposed to rain more tomorrow. I would really appreciate a dry, sunny day on my LONG ride to Revelstoke, BC.)
The second reason why I’m staying two nights instead of one is because I was asked to speak at the annual World Travelers meeting of Horizons Unlimited (Western Canada?). ( https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ )
When I was checking into the city campground where I was planning to stay, a couple of motorcycle enthusiasts saw my scooter and trailer and the conversations began.
Shortly afterward I was asked to share some of my adventures with a few of the other World Travelers who will be arriving tomorrow.
I’m not sure if what I’ve experienced and/or discovered in various places around the planet will be of benefit to anyone here this weekend, but maybe something will.
Regarding my current Journey, perhaps I can help someone decide whether such an adventure is right for them, or at least help them evaluate some of the equipment they may be considering to take along.
At the very least, perhaps a few fellow Travelers will be entertained for a few minutes as I recount some of the more “exhilarating” episodes of the Adventure so far, including the 90 minutes of “terror aerobics” that defined Day 2 of my present Journey.
We’ll find out tomorrow.
Wish me luck!…

Hope you get to enjoy the Hacyon Hot Springs. Itβs great to watch your progress.
You are very blessed.
Halcyon Hot Springs was too expensive. It was raining heavily when I went by there. It would have been nice to warm up, but, alas, I am on a budget.
