—  63 —

Today was ANOTHER wet day scooting, but it began with a wonderful and very welcome First.

It rained off and on all night and into the morning.

The rain didn’t begin last night until after my shower (cold) at the Smithers Riverside campground, and I was VERY thankful to crawl into a warm space and merely listen to the heavily falling rain.

This morning things were wet all around, but between downpours I managed to move my pack and scooter items into the community building which was covered and mostly enclosed.

An elderly couple saw me portaging my equipment and during one of the lulls in the rain Peter meandered into the building with an egg sandwich on multigrain toast and an authentic cup of English tea.

This was the First day on this trip that anyone ever provided me with such a great breakfast at a campground! (Peter said it was his wife’s idea, but I think he had a hand in it as well.)

Thank you both so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity!

And guess what?

At the end of my drenching ride this morning another First: Brenda and her husband reached out to me with identical warmth and hospitality at their RV park — the Westin Moricetown RV Park and Campground.

A Great Place to Dry Out!

Not long after directing me to an ideal spot to warm up and dry out my equipment and myself, Brenda came over with a couple cans of soda and some items to help me charge my scooter.

Later, after I finished a great shower and a load of laundry to clean and dry my clothes, Brenda’s husband showed up with a jar of home-caught and preserved coho salmon!

What a treat for a simple dinner!

After a trying and rather discouraging yesterday in Smithers dealing with the scooter tires, I’m so very thankful that God graciously reminded me of His loving care through the obvious generosity and kindness of two thoughtful couples.

If only more people would deliberately participate in reaching out with such simple, very-much-appreciated “random acts of kindness” the world would be a much better place.

I, for one, am very, VERY thankful for your kindness and hospitality!…
