—  128 —

I hopped out of my fireplace hammock and began solar charging as soon as possible this morning so I could be on my way to Lochsa Lodge with a full charge.

There is noticeably more smoke in the air today and it seems that the panels are only putting out about 150 watts at 10 AM.

I sure hope this improves because there’s a LOT of climbing on this section of Highway 12, and I’m hoping to make it all the way to the Lodge today.

A FULL charge is essential.

It’s also Friday, so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to camp at the Lodge as well.

Since Labor Day is over perhaps I won’t have a problem getting a spot.

Also, since the “peak” camping season is officially over, perhaps I’ll get a reasonable rate as well.

We’ll see…

BTW, I did pay the camping fee last night for Site 16 which was the only campsite that had two trees for the hammock.

Site 16 at Wilderness Gateway Campground, Idaho

I even put $15 into the envelope instead of the $14 required.

It just seemed more reasonable to stay where I was in the pavillion rather than move a quarter-mile away.

Also, if I packed everything up to get to the actual campsite then I would have had to move it all back again this morning to charge.

Besides, if the power were actually turned on in the pavillion, I wouldn’t have needed to spend the night here in the first place!

Besides that, only 3 other RVs are here, and they’re all down in the campsites making noise!

I hope it was alright…

The end of the road today.

Foot Bridge Over Clearwater River to Warm Hot Springs

I’m down to 70v but I’ve got 12 miles to go uphill and into the wind.

But I can be taught. I’m not going to push the scooter again, especially not at dusk on a busy mountain road with no shoulder.

I’m going to wait for a possible ride up to Lochsa Lodge.

If necessary, I will camp here…
