It’s Sunday and I was looking forward to attending church in Packwood while the scooter charged.

Unfortunately that did not happen, but I did have a couple of Firsts today.

Today was the First day I almost got hit by a motorcycle. (Yeah, Harley fans, that’s you!)

Fortunately for me the engine noise was so loud and obnoxious that I heard them coming from a mile behind me, and something told me to hug the shoulder.

There were four Hawgs screaming up Highway 12 to White Pass and riding two abreast.

The inside two were riding the white line and I was relegated to the 18″ of shoulder on the right.

When they passed me exceeding the speed limit by at least 20 mph, I felt the hot exhaust on my ankles as they passed within inches of the trailer.

I’m not sure what they were trying to prove other than they were careless and selfish, but they didn’t need to try very hard to accomplish that.

Police yourselves Harley enthusiasts! Thoughtless packs like these reflect badly on ALL OF YOU!

Today was also the First day that no one paid any attention to the scooter as it was parked in front of Mount Ranier waiting for a photo.

Notice how the people in this shot are fully engrossed with the magnificence of the mountain and could care less about the scooter.

This is as it should be always, just as King David recognized in Psalm 8:

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! … When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

I am truly thankful that He is mindful of me…
